Whatcom Museum

Established in 1941, the Whatcom Museum serves more than 70,000 people a year, and has hosted more than 700 world class art and regional history exhibitions throughout the last 77 years. From nationally touring shows, including National Geographic’s 50 Greatest Photographs, Mingled Visions: Images from The North American Indian by Edward S. Curtis, to our own home-curated exhibitions, such as Vanishing Ice: Alpine and Polar Landscapes in Art, 1775-2012 (which is subsequently touring the US and Canada), we have a rich history of providing our community with unique cultural and educational opportunities unavailable from any other local organization. These shows are interspersed and mingled with showings of our own significant collection of Northwest and Contemporary Art. Mission Statement: The Whatcom Museum provides innovative and interactive educational programs and exhibitions about art, nature, and Northwest history. We seek to stimulate curiosity about our changing cultural, natural, and historical landscapes, for the youngest to the oldest minds, and to inspire preservation of and creative contributions to our region and beyond.
