Vet Clinic Software

Vet Clinic aims to be one of the first robust, feature-rich and FREE veterinary practice management software programs available. Most veterinary practices use expensive, cumbersome management software when in reality, such programs are fairly simple and lend themselves easily to open source development. Therefore, the Vet Clinic project will give veterinarians another option when it comes to managing their practices. Vet Clinic is web based, meaning that the software is hosted on a central, local web server within the practice. The central server must run a web server (e.g. Apache), PHP5, and mySQL at minimum in order to run Vet Clinic. The advantage of a web based program is that each individual workstation does not require the program to be installed. All that is needed to access Vet Clinic from a workstation is an internet browser, therefore workstations running any operating system (as well as mobile devices such as tablets) are compatible. Even the central web server can run any operating system, as long as the appropriate applications are installed! Vet Clinic is open source, which not only means it’s free, but also continually developed and supported, which is a claim a lot of existing veterinary practice management programs cannot make.
