The Hong Kong Laureate Forum (the Forum) aspires to be a world-class academic exchange event to connect the current and next generations of leaders in scientific pursuit, as well as to promote understanding and interests of the young generation in Hong Kong and around the world in various disciplines in science and technology.
The Forum will invite the participation of recipients of our home-grown Shaw Prize. The Shaw Prize was established in 2002 to recognize advances and outstanding contributions in three disciplines, namely, Astronomy, Life Science and Medicine, and Mathematical Sciences. In less than two decades, the Shaw Prize has become a world-renowned award for the highest achievements in mankind. Indeed, among over 80 Shaw Laureates since 2004, many of them have subsequently been awarded other world-renowned international awards, including 15 Nobel Prize awardees, 9 Lasker Awards winners, 5 Fields Medalists and 2 Abel Prize recipients.
The Forum aims to inspire young scientists from around the world through participation in a week-long programme comprising world-class intellectual seminars, dialogues, workshops, poster sessions, etc. and provide ample opportunities for exchanges between the Shaw Laureates and the young scientists. The Forum will also be an international platform to encourage cross-cultural dialogue.
The inaugural Forum will be held on 15-20 November 2021 at the Hong Kong Science Park. Being Asia’s world city and a city long celebrated for its vibrancy, Hong Kong is an ideal place for such an international gathering.
The Council of the Hong Kong Laureate Forum (the HKLF) is working on the details of the Forum and application for the Forum will be opened in September 2020. Stay tuned to our website and social media for more details.
