Today, the best-educated, most diverse generation in American history has entered the workforce. They are extremely values-driven; 60% of young millennials and Gen Z’ers report wanting a mission-driven career. However, because of the prevalence of “word of mouth” recruiting, low or no-paying jobs, and lack of industry resources, only 20% of them are actually able to achieve this feat.
Second Day is here to address this talent gap by working to dismantle inequitable talent pipelines into the social impact sector. Our goal is to change the norm that young people feel forced to decide between doing good for the world or well for themselves by helping them land their dream job working on the causes they care about.
