Information
P.ink (Personal Ink) helps breast cancer survivors make friends with the mirror again after a mastectomy. We believe creative disruption can be the most effective way to close the gap between being cured and being healed. And we're here to enable that disruption in the most beautiful and empowering way possible. Behind so many pink ribbons is an unspoken truth: many women diagnosed with breast cancer will opt for mastectomies, which leave them physically scarred and often without nipples. Culture has a solution: reconstruction. Even after that, millions of survivors still see a body in the mirror bearing the scars of their experience. Is being cured enough? Is there a gap between being cured and being healed? P.ink connects breast cancer survivors with tattoo ideas and artists who can help them move on. Online, we curate design inspirations for survivors with mastectomy tattoo ideas at http://p-ink.org. And in the real world we impact transformative change via P.ink Day, when we put survivors at the center of our universe. Now in its ninth year, this volunteer all-out day of service has spread to 17 cities in North America. Between P.ink Day and our donor-driven P.ink Fund, we've inked over 400 survivors to date. We're changing the culture of healing with help from feature stories by the Associated Press, New York Times, USA Today, Upworthy, Buzzfeed, Huffington Post, Oprah Magazine, Fast Company, PSFK, Springwise and others. P.ink launched from within CP+B, an advertising agency based in Boulder, Colorado. We're now an independent organization fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas, a 501c3 charitable organization. P.ink is graduating to its own 501c3 in Fall 2015. Contact us at [email protected]. Credits: tattoo and photo by David Allen. P.ink logo and design by Courtney Bowditch and Heather Weiss. Name by David Clark Cause. Additional people, talents, and resources by founding agency CP+B.
