OneEgg is a 501c3 committed to supporting and investing in sustainable suppliers of eggs and providing preschool age children with animal protein one egg at a time. Animal protein is essential for physical and cognitive development.
OneEgg was founded in 2010. Its mission is to empower economies, strengthen communities, and end acute malnutrition one egg at a time.
We follow a unique model for sustainable development, blending for-profit enterprise with a sponsorship model. The objective is to provide a “hand up” - not a “hand out” - to empower the local community while increasing the amount of protein in the diets of children.
We work with partners around the world, including individual and corporate donors, businesses and organizations like Tyson Foods and The American Egg Board and Nutrition Center and we work with churches. Churches here in the United States provide financial support to the ministry and churches in undeveloped countries provide hands on support.
Currently OneEgg is in Rwanda, Uganda, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Honduras, Haiti and Morocco.
OneEgg buys the eggs from local farmers, supporting for-profit business, which helps to create more jobs as part of sustainable development. The eggs are then provided to young children each day. OneEgg’s amazing partner, Tyson Foods, works with the local farmers to train them in poultry sciences, animal husbandry, feed management, and bio security.
