Our Mission:
To enhance and advance economic and financial education for the educators and students of North Carolina.
Our Vision:
A North Carolina where all of its citizens have the knowledge, understanding and skills to make informed economic choices.
We accomplish the mission through a multi-pronged approach:
* We work with the international Council for Economic Education to develop and distribute unique field-tested materials for use in the classroom.
* We provide professional development and training through workshops, seminars, and university-based courses for teachers at no cost to teachers, schools, or the LEA's.
* We work through a network of university based Centers for Economic Education and teacher ambassadors to provide workshops at the local level.
* We sponsor statewide academic, standards based competitions that foster interest in economics and financial literacy thereby enhancing the learning experience.
* We work with policymakers as advocates for economic education and financial literacy initiatives in the public schools.
* We work with the NC Department of Public Instruction to distribute standards-based curriculum at no cost to the teachers, schools, or LEAs.
