MIR
[meer / mîːr]
Etymology
Proto-Slavic: *mȋrъ (“peace; world”)
Meaning
Polish: A space which belongs; a space for community and peace
MIR Studio is an architectural design practice based in London, UK and Gdansk, Poland.
We create architecture and space which offer a sense of belonging, an inner calmness and a place for community and peace, be it short-term or long-term within both the private and public realm.
We approach the design process with honesty and sincerity, simplicity and minimalism, finding solutions which are well-considered, yet never over-complicated.
We pride ourselves on our devotion to responding to context, be this an immediate site, it’s wider community, it’s environmental context, historical context, or the context of a client and their needs, and our ability to find holistic and creative solutions.
Our studio has an intrinsic interest in exploring new technologies and materials, and our studio culture encourages a constant expansion of knowledge, helping us to always examine how architecture can positively affect and shape one's every-day experiences in life.
As with our architecture, MIR Studio strives to create a working environment where we each belong, where discourse and the transaction of thought are shared communally, and where architecture is practised harmoniously, thus positively.
