The 'Auberges de Jeunesse Luxembourgeoises' is a non-profit association (a.s.b.l.) which is a member of the international federation Hostelling International regrouping more than 3.000 youth hostels in 80 countries of the world. Among others, their goals include: - The development of social tourism with regard to health and education, especially for children, young people and families; - The creation, servicing and administration of youth hostels and other forms of accommodation, training centres, as well as facilities that encourage recreational activities in Luxembourg; - The facilitation of exchange between young people regardless of country of origin, nationality, gender, religious affiliation or political opinion; - The organisation of school trips and the encouragement of extracurricular activities in relation to youth hostels. Youth hostels are increasingly successful in integrating themselves into their local environments and finding their place in the social, cultural and economic framework of the different localities. True to their objectives, they have become a reliable partner in the fields of youth tourism, social tourism and lifelong learning. In addition to accommodation for schools, clubs, groups, families and hikers, the youth hostels offer a balanced catering with regional and fair trade products, a varied leisure programme and the necessary infrastructure for conferences and birthday parties. The age limit has been abolished, so that the youth hostels are accessible to all young and old. In addition, the youth hostel association runs day cares, maisons relais and youth houses, where almost 1,000 children are cared for daily by the youth workers of the association.
