Information
Greens do Good is a four-season vertical farm that reinvests all of its profits back into supporting people with autism live, learn, work and thrive. Greens do Good is an innovative new social venture business that reinvests all of its profits back into the REED Foundation for Autism, a national non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. According to the CDC, there are 3.5 million people living with autism in the United States. At the age of 21, individuals are no longer funded through their local school districts and rely solely on the Medicaid system. Medicaid is woefully underfunded and lacks proper program support for the large influx of individuals making the transition into adulthood. Autism is a lifelong disorder and the REED Foundation is creating high-quality housing, employment, and community support programs for thousands of individuals. The REED Foundation for Autism believes we are creating a model that will have national implications for the autism community by infusing private funding into the deficits that are not covered by government programs. Our social enterprise vertical farm is located in Hackensack, New Jersey, just fifteen miles outside of New York City. We will grow fresh, delicious greens throughout the year. The farm is currently under construction and will open its doors in the spring of 2018. Several prominent chefs, restaurants and supermarkets are already interested in buying from our unique business. We believe this is a winning formula for the country and will help non-profits be more sustainable. The State of New Jersey agrees with us and has funded Greens do Good as the first state pilot in the country using vertical farming to support autism programs.
