Fort Wayne Electric Works

Electric Works is a mixed-use district of innovation, energy, and culture, developed as a public/private partnership between RTM Ventures and the City of Fort Wayne. It is located in downtown Fort Wayne, and is the redevelopment of a former General Electric campus. Electric Works includes 39 acres, 18 historic buildings, and more than 1.2 million square feet of space for office, retail, residential, hotel, and entertainment uses. Our vision for Electric Works is built on three key components: Innovation / Energy / Culture Through our activation and re-use of existing buildings on campus – combined with creative, diverse programming and activities – we are creating a world-class quality of place built on a foundation of innovation, energy and culture. Simply put, the historic buildings are our canvas. This bold, adaptive re-use of the campus maximizes the facility’s density of existing structures and offers a broad array of uses – including innovation / education, residential, commercial, community and hospitality. It is a highly walkable, accessible place. Projects this big and bold don’t get done alone; indeed, the private and public sectors each bring unique tools, resources and support that, when leveraged strategically and collaboratively, turn developments like these from dream to reality. As such, a unique and collaborative partnership drives the development of Electric Works. While we are fortunate to benefit from incredible initial public support, it’s important to note that the goal will always be for private investment – from local, regional and national levels – to be the largest component of Electric Works throughout the redevelopment process.
