Football Club "Shakhtar"

FC Shakhtar Donetsk was established in 1936. Initially, the team was called “Stakhanovets”, and its modern name “Shakhtar” was received in 1946. Already in the 1950s, "Shakhtar" was one of the leading clubs in the Soviet Union, and in 1951 it became the bronze champion of the USSR at first time. In 1980 and 1983 they have won National Cup, and in 1984 - the Super Bowl of the USSR. Shakhtar is UEFA Cup Winner of 2009, Champion of Ukraine in 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019. Ukrainian Cup Winner of 1995, 1997, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2009 the home stadium of “Shakhtar” was opened. The construction of "Elite" category - Donbass Arena is the largest in Eastern Europe.
