Necessity is the mother of all invention. In 2003 Wade Sutton and Andy Harler founded Filtrate Eyewear. Sutton, an eyewear sales rep. and Harler a long time retailer, both avid surfers, saw an opportunity to dispel the assumption that quality eyewear must be expensive.
Over the course of 7 years, in the formidable testing grounds of Australia's sun, surf and snow, Sutton and Harler designed, refined and perfected their ambitious goal of making Filtrate the most accessible action sports inspired eyewear brands in the world.
This is not about cranking up the volume; it's about shaking things up, making noise in the industry, and changing market perceptions.
