Walk down Little Lonsdale St and find a set of doors with a peep-hole and the 18th Amendment on entry. Walk up the stairs and you are transformed into an old world of the 1920’s prohibition era where the girls are dressed as flappers and guys as gangsters.
Father’s Office Speakeasy Bar & Restaurant is based on prohibition Americana in the 1920s, when the consumption of alcohol was prohibited. Vintage pieces line the establishment, including an original Swanston Street sign. The spectacular view of the State Library sets the scene to chill on the large wrap-around balcony and a signature cocktail; the opulent dining room with tin ceiling, art deco inspired wall sconces and decanter lighting. The custom-made copper beer tap over the industrial-style bar, period mosaics and gangster wall encapsulate the era of underground speakeasy bars. The main bar is cosy with reconditioned fire-places from the 1920’s and an array of couches that sit underneath custom made copper lights.
The drinks menu includes a large range of Whiskey and Rum to mirror underground 1920s, complemented with tap beers from local micro-brewers. The food menu comprises Americana a la carte and food from the bar with high quality local produce and premium meat cuts.
