Information
Mike Amado, the president of Entertainment Specialists began as a DJ back when he was in high school DJing house parties. He went on to college and played on college radio stations and started recruiting bands that wanted representation. While becoming a popular club DJ and still doing college radio shows, he started doing hip-hop concerts. While traveling back and forth to conferences in NYC, Mike met Russell Simmons, the manager for Run DMC and Run's brother. Russell asked Mike to book Run DMC with rock bands in the 80s and also to book some of the other acts that he managed including LL Cool J and Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff. This opened doors for Mike giving him the opportunity to get himself into events in New York where he had the chance to DJ and meet some hip hop legends such as Notorious BIG, Tupac, Ice Cube, and Chuck D to name a few. Mike's love for the music scene led him to open his own company. Entertainment Specialists Inc. officially became a corporation in 1987. After starting his company and doing hip hop shows for a number of years, Mike decided to take a position as the musical director of The Bay Tower Restaurant (now The State Room) booking swing bands while still owning and operating Entertainment Specialists. This led him to do more affluent events for people that were in the swing community. From there, he went into a full-service event planning company, purchasing photo booths and lighting and providing lighting and sound for bands, as well as doing uplighting for weddings and events. Entertainment Specialists has grown to become the sought-after entertainment company in New England for our bands, DJs, and wedding services. We are referred by all of the 4 and 5-star hotels in the city, as well as Newport mansions and hotels. Entertainment Specialists represent the most requested talent from Maine to Miami.
