Information
Rooted in dance music culture and part of London’s thriving club scene, E1 has already earned its place as one of the most exciting new venues to open in the city in recent times. The East London clubbing destination first made headlines for its debut event; a 27 hour party on New Year’s Eve 2017, with a stellar line up including Ben Klock, Maceo Plex, Âme, Mano Le Tough, Recondite and Rødhåd. London’s Evening Standard labelled the venue as ‘one of the city’s true heavy-hitters’, for ambitiously carrying off a party few others could as its opening salvo. Since then, the venue has hosted a myriad of names across a diverse music spectrum. It’s proud of an open music policy and is an inclusive space that has welcomed notable names including: Stephan Bodzin, Sven Väth, Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Helena Hauff, John Digweed, Laurent Garnier, Circoloco, Margaret Dygas, Juan Atkins, Honey Dijon, Horse Meat Disco, Jeff Mills, Ellen Allien, DJ Tennis amongst many more. Despite its versatility as an eclectic event space, E1’s night-time clubbing calendar is the most impressive, particularly for boasting a rare 7am licence, affording extended DJ sets and all-night-long raves. The venue is loyal to hosting the most celebrated underground names in the electronic-music catalogue, but also has the potential to host debut London performances, label showcases and live gigs across a diverse music spectrum. E1 is split over three rooms and an outdoor space, with two rooms of music and one chill out area. The large ‘Warehouse’ retains the industrial vibe, with bare concrete walls and pillars. A smaller area, ‘Black Studio’ gives intimacy to its gatherings, but doesn’t compromise on sound. Visitors to E1 cannot miss the innovative Wall of Sound, an impeccable sound-system, designed to make a statement. The Funktion-One system has been painstakingly constructed to deliver unmatched clarity, depth and power to its revellers. An essential staple in London’s club culture.
