The Professional Engineers and Surveyors Association of Puerto Rico (CIAPR by its Spanish anachronism) was founded in 1938 through an act in Law No. 319, with the purpose of guarding the public interest and serving government advisors in technological matters, implementing cannon laws of professional ethics and defending the interests of engineering, surveying and architecture professionals.
The CIAPR groups professional engineers and surveyors, licensed or certified (in training) by the Board of Examiners of Professional Engineers and Surveyors of Puerto Rico, who must belong to our organization in order to perform their profession in Puerto Rico. Engineers in Training (EIT) and Surveyors in Training (SIT) are also members of the CIAPR.
This prestigious Institution significantly affects the social-economical progress and work of Puerto Rico, and has an important social responsibility. Each of the professions it represents exerts this responsibility with great dynamism, a virtue that characterizes professional engineers and surveyors. On the accomplishment of its responsibility, the CIAPR has closely collaborated with the main public and private agencies on the way to fortify the infrastructure of Puerto Rico.
