Awarded "Best Festival” in 2015 and “Best Music Festival” in 2014 by Baltimore Magazine, the Charm City Folk and Bluegrass Festival (CCFBF) is simply the best party in Baltimore. By combining music that gets you grooving, regional craft beers and ciders, unique and familiar foods, independent vendors, and thousands of the best people you'll ever meet, the festival, located in one of America's oldest landscaped public parks, simply brings out the best Baltimore has to offer. Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Keller Williams & The Travelin' McCourys, Steep Canyon Rangers and Sierra Hull are all aboard for Charm City '16. Also performing with be Cris Jacobs, Cabinet, Colebrook Road and Man About A Horse. The opening slot will be filled by the winner of a battle of the bands competition. The 2016 festival will also feature "The Bluegrass Academy," where festival performers will give short lessons and discuss their music and playing techniques. Just like at previous festivals, there will be an open bluegrass jam throughout the day. General admission and VIP tickets are on sale now via the festival's website. For each ticket sold, the festival will donate $2 to the Howard Peters Rawlings Conservatory and Botanic Gardens, which sits next to the festival grounds, to support horticulture education programs. Love Canon will play the hits of the '80s bluegrass style at The 8X10 as the official after-party with ticketing details TBA. Charm City Folk & Bluegrass Festival 2016 Lineup Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Keller Williams & The Travelin' McCourys, Steep Canyon Rangers, Sierra Hull, Cris Jacobs, Cabinet, Colebrook Road, Man About A Horse. In 2018 a documentary, "Charm City Bluesgrass: A Renewed Baltimore Tradition," directed by Marc Shapiro and filmed by Caplan & Green Productions, was released highlighting the festival's continuing role in keeping alive the long tradition of bluegrass music in Baltimore. The documentary's release was celebrated with a screening and concert at Baltimore radio station WTMD. The festival is set to return for its sixth year in 2018. For the first time it was now expanded to two days. The lineup was headlined by The Travelin' McCourys, The Devil Makes Three (band), The SteelDrivers, and included the Jeff Austin Band, Billy Strings, Caleb Stine, The Larry Keel Experience, and Trout Steak Revival, among many others.
