Capital Area Humane Society

The Capital Area Humane Society is a non-profit organization that receives no government funding and cares for over 10,000 animals annually. Our mission is to promote the humane treatment of companion animals through protection, placement, education and example. But we are much more than an animal shelter. We provide spay & neuter services, obedience and behavioral programs, educational services and volunteer opportunities in addition to our traditional adoptions. We are staff, donors, volunteers and concerned citizens working together to ensure a better future for companion animals. It is the generous support of our community partners that makes it possible for us to do our work every day.
