Cambinata Yabbies

Cambinata Yabbies operates the largest ‘Yabby export facility’ in Australia on the Nenke family farm in Kukerin, Western Australia. Live yabbies, a delicious cold water Australian species of freshwater crayfish, are grown in dams across the property and purchased from hundreds of other farmers across the Wheatbelt and Great Southern of Western Australia. They are then purged in the facilities biologically filtered fresh water tanks before being individually weighed and sorted and transferred to the large chilled holding tank ready for packing and shipping live across Australia and internationally. In addition yabbies are value added in the nearby commercial kitchen and sold domestically as ‘gourmet pickled yabbies’ as well as served at functions in the adjoining ‘rustic shearing shed function centre’. The family also operates Mary’s Farm Cottages, an eco friendly tourism village that is off the grid with energy supplied by solar energy and all grey water recycled. Guests can order and enjoy meals of freshly steamed yabbies delivered to their rooms.
