Brava! for Women in the Arts celebrates over 30 years as a professional arts organization dedicated to cultivating the artistic expression of women, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, youth, and other underrepresented voices. Brava owns and operates Brava Theater Center, producing and presenting traditional and contemporary music festivals, a variety of film festivals, contemporary and experimental theatrical productions, international comedy shows, lectures, and professional dance productions—making Brava one of the most eclectic and multifaceted arts venues in the Bay Area.
Brava’s four core programs reflect our commitment to our communities: we annually produce 30+ performing arts productions by women, LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC artists; our artist in residence program supports the professional development and creative work of these artists; while our subsidized rentals enable these communities to gain access to our professional venue; Brava also houses Mission Academy of Performing Arts, which trains 120 community youth in theatrical production and performance.
